Two poems (and a memoir)

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Vox Bendigo Fyffe Award goes jointly to Tru S. Dowling and Melinda Kallasmae.

Tru and Melinda will each receive $500, courtesy of our sponsor, Rod Fyffe AO, and their poems will become our very first artisan-zine – a hand-crafted publication to be launched at Bendigo Writers Festival.

And there’s more… a highly recommended entry, the memoir story by Chris Harrick, will become our first online Vox Bendigo publication. Award coordinator Scott Alterator is working with design team Jacqui and Jeff Lynch to create this new platform for telling Central Victorian stories in new ways, using the potential of digital publishing.

Congratulations to Tru, Melinda and Chris.

We discovered there is a big interest in writing about This Place; but we also know it takes time and creativity to support its development.

We hope this year’s Vox Bendigo Fyffe Award can be a part of that.

We’ll have a special poetry and new writing event at Bendigo Writers Festival, on Friday August 12, to celebrate the Vox Bendigo Fyffe Award.

Details on the BWF program, announced on June 1.
